Just Wait and See...

Wow…
I'm completely blown

How could I not have known
The red flags were definitely there
But a part of me just didn’t care
I only saw what I wanted to see
Pretended it was how it should be
I fell so hard for your pick up lines
So hard I missed all of the signs

Like…
The disappearing for hours at a time
The scent on your clothes that was nothing like mine
The making love to me like it’s a chore
The lady you kept staring at in the grocery store
The arguing so you could get out of the house
The creeping and sneaking around like a mouse

The late night text messages and calls
The stranger living with me within these walls

So…
Since the stranger lying in my bed is you
I know deep in my heart what I must do
It took me a long time to wake up and realize
I don’t have to put up with your awful lies
Lies that roll off your tongue like a pro
One day you will reap what you sew
You will pay for the way you treated me
Karma will handle it just wait and see

Why You Playing...

You know what I want
So why you playing
Trying to play hard to get
Acting like we just met
Talking about this and that
But that ain’t where my mind is at
You’re talking but I don’t hear you
I'm hot and bothered from being near you
I’m staring at your lips
I start to move my hips
You act like you don’t notice
I want you and you know this
Hush and listen to what my body’s saying
Come on babe stop playing
This is what I want
So why you playing

You ever make love so hard you fart?
You ever pee so hard you fart?
You ever been tickled so hard you fart?
You ever been hugged so hard you fart?
You ever loved someone so hard you fart?

Where is the Love... (Part 2)

A question for all of my black women
Where is the love for the black men
You know… the black man
They are our dads, uncles and brothers
Our husbands, boyfriends and lovers
The ones who are always on the front line ready for bout
Standing strong, shoulders back, chest stuck out
Making sure we are protected and don’t go without
They carry the weight on their shoulders so we don’t have to
Because that’s what black men do

But something happened along the way
That caused some of our black women to pull away
Instead of believing and trusting in our man
Somehow we began to create our own plan
They went from being our strength and breathe of fresh air
To someone we didn’t really trust to always be there
Somehow we figured we didn’t need to let our men be the head
We stepped up thinking we could do it better instead
It’s like we didn’t value our brothers anymore
We sent them packing and showed them the door

There is something I want all of my sisters to know
And I want you to say I told you so
No matter how strong and independent we think we may be
Truthfully, I think we all have to agree
That we can’t do it without them
They are our kings, our precious gems
Instead of us always putting our black men down
Let’s do our best to help them turn things around
Show them they have our support thru thick and thin
And that we have their back, ride or die until the end
Give them everything we are made of
So they never have to wonder where is the love

Where is the Love....

A question for all my black men
Where is the love for the black woman
You know… the black woman
We are your sisters, aunties and mothers
Your wives, girlfriends and lovers
The ones who are always there by your side
Standing tall, head high and filled with pride
We do our best to bring out the best in you
And still stick around when you show us the rest of you
Because that’s what black women do

But something happened along the way
To cause some of our black men to go astray
Instead of us being your soul mate
Somehow we became the object of your hate
We went from being your pride and joy
To your sex objects and play toys
You’re angry at the world and have no trust
Unfortunately, you’re taking that anger out on us
It’s like you don’t cherish or love us anymore
Instead of staying you ran for the door

There is something I want you all to know
Even if it doesn’t always show
No matter how bad things get
I hope you all will never forget
We love, need and support you all
We will always be there even when you fall
We understand your anger but don’t make us pay
For all the struggles that comes your way
Instead let us help you to keep the family in tack
And trust us to always have your back
Give us everything you are made of
So we never have to wonder where is the love…

Reserved

Everybody is not worthy of being in your face
All up in your business and personal space
Sucking up all your good energy and air
That’s reserved for only those who really care

Everybody don’t need to teach you a life lesson
Or benefit from your many blessings
Everything is not meant for you to share
That’s reserved for only those who really care
...
Everybody in your boat definitely ain’t rowing
Your friendemies fangs aren’t always showing
You can’t trust everyone to always be there
That’s reserved for only those who really care
